Humble origins

The story of Pathos Studio began in 2020, during an extraordinary time of uncertainty, when the world fell strangely silent in the wake of a global pandemic. In that quiet, Darius—the visionary founder of Pathos—turned to creativity, designing and selling contemporary art prints from home. What began as a personal passion soon struck an unexpected chord, resonating with people across the world. Seizing the moment, Darius began shaping a business rooted in art and creativity, guided by his commitment to sustainability and ethical practice.

Behind the name

The name Pathos was chosen with intent. Rooted in the Greek word for the emotions stirred by life’s experiences, it reflected the studio’s mission: to create and curate art that resonates. Over time, Pathos evolved from producing contemporary designs into a sanctuary for classic, rare, and cherished works—digitally restored and enhanced for wide-format printing, making them accessible to modern audiences while preserving their timeless essence.

The studio today

In less than a year, what began in a modest bedroom workspace had already outgrown its walls. Pathos Studio moved into larger premises, where a small, close-knit team now brings the vision to life. Among them is Mika, the German Shepherd Darius adopted just before the pandemic, who has grown up alongside the business and remains a loyal presence at its heart.

Medieval roots

Pathos Studio’s roots are entwined in a remarkable setting: a Grade II listed medieval building beside the magnificent Lincoln Cathedral. Within its walls, centuries of history resonate, shaping the character of a studio devoted to preserving art’s legacy. Here, past and present converge—ancient stone standing alongside cutting-edge printmaking technology—creating a space where art’s heritage is preserved and reimagined for the modern world.
